Caitlin Clark’s rookie salary is $76,000

What is the average time of a WNBA game? I couldn't find it on Google. Google says NBA is 2.5 hours. But I bet that's a little high if you time it starting from tip off. For example, most 7:00 pm games won't tip until about 7:10. And I think many of those games are done by 9:30. The women's...

Respectful salutation gets me feeling old

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. If I know the person, which I assume your intern knows you, I don't see a need for formality. Honestly, many of my emails are just void of any kind of opening greeting. If I'm emailing my boss (I IM more than email), I'll just jump into the topic. No...

NFL To Trial Electronic Measurements For First Downs

I assume the refs will still spot the ball and then the tech will indicate whether it is a first down or not. Basically just eliminating the time used to do an actual chain measurement. Keeping the chains on the sidelines is needed, as someone mentioned above, so the players can have a goal when...

Question - Guys Giving Up Your Seat For A Woman On Subway

Yeah, I actually don't know that I've ever seen "all seats full with a few people standing". If only a few people are standing, then seats are usually available. I know NYC has different seat configuration (more standing room) than DC, so maybe it's more common in NYC to have that situation.

Question - Guys Giving Up Your Seat For A Woman On Subway

I said No. Having been on the DC Metro, including a lot during rush hour, my view is that it is not a cultural expectation to do so. I've been on NY subways some and my assumption is that they'd have a similar lack of cultural expectation. I've never heard complaints about this culture or any...

    Scottie Sheffler On Defining "Success"

I live in Fairfax and have been pulled over twice in the county. Once I was using an "authorized vehicles only" cut-through to turn around on a road. I was a teenager for that one and even talked back (although mildly) to the cop a bit. It was a quick interaction, he was pretty nice, and let me...

    Scottie Sheffler On Defining "Success"

I've been pulled over about 5 times in my life. Every interaction was cordial.

The “I want to retire soon” thread

Yeah, 10 years of service at MRA is definitely different than my pension. I'll be at 34+ years at MRA. There's a difference between a Deferred Retirement and postponing the collection a Voluntary Retirement. I found this on Health Insurance for Voluntary Retirements: Health Insurance If you...

The “I want to retire soon” thread

I've been thinking of my government pension as my safe/bonds portion for retirement. So, while I do kind of dread what might happen to the market those last years before tapping into my TSP, I'm of the mindset right now to keep it in stocks even as I approach retirement since I do have that...

The whole NFL players in NBA debate going on...

Well, I see the discussion as going both directions. It's not just about how a football player translates to the basketball court, but also how a basketball player translates to the football field. And I feel like the latter is being downplayed a little. I agree with the conclusion that...

The whole NFL players in NBA debate going on...

I think strength is vastly more important than height in those first five yards. And while I understand that basketball players don't play a game where they are never touched, the contact simply isn't comparable between the two sports. I think a very high percentage of NFL players would have no...

The whole NFL players in NBA debate going on...

Defenses probably wouldn't put a 5'10" guy on him. It's one thing to use your footwork to cross up a guy who isn't allowed to touch you and quite another to use it against someone who is way stronger than you and who is allowed to push you and hit you. A defender really just needs to disrupt him...

The whole NFL players in NBA debate going on...

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure there are a quite a few of the tall, thick, athletic types in the NBA who would really struggle even in this specialist role in the NFL because I think there's a particular mindset you have to have to play football. I really have no idea how much American NBA players...
