I watched three John Woo Hong Kong movies in late 2023: A Better Tomorrow, A Better Tomorrow II and Hard Boiled. They're kind of hard to assess in retrospect because his action style has been so widely imitated. What was fresh at the time now looks rather dated. I found the stories to be very...
Hit Man (2024)
We enjoyed it as well. Well drawn characters and a circuitous plotline kept me engaged. It delivered enough laughs as well as a surprising amount of philosophy in some scenes that reminded me a bit of the Before trilogy.
Pie is a good metaphor.
The decision was out of his hands but I'm happy Yuki has his 2025 RB seat settled early. The car has been consistently decent this year and he's certainly done enough to earn the extension.
It's only a one year option so Tsunoda's in the picture for the 2026 silly season provided he takes care...

Adagio (Netflix) is a 2023 Italian crime drama directed by Stefano Sollima, best known for Gomorrah and the Sicario sequel. The title is a musical notation meaning slow tempo which is fitting because Sollima definitely plays it more for atmosphere than action. The fights and shootouts that do...
They all were on Max for a long time but left in March or April. Before Midnight is free with ads on the Roku Channel for some reason but the other two are PPV only as far as I can tell.
I downloaded a 720p rip of Before Sunrise that I'm going to watch because I paid for the DVD almost 30...
I'm pro-choice about director's cuts because they're generally better although we've reached the point of the diminishing returns the with technology we have.
To bring this back to Linklater, there's a nice scene in Me and Orson Welles where Welles speaks passionately about The Magnificent...
