The Ring was the one other with 11 so far.

Coming up in two picks is the first 12 vote movie!

What's interesting is that there are definite "Tiers" of movies when looking at the scoring. For the most part, the scores are fairly linearly increasing, but every once in a while there is a significant bump in score from one movie to the next. One such bump occured from The Ring(340 points) to the Babadook (362 points).

Another "bump" like this is coming between the 24th and 23rd movies, and two absolutely crazy bumps in between 14 and 13, and in between 5 and 4.

Up next: Steven Spielberg shows everyone how a certain horror subgenre is done.
Reeses Pieces, everybody!

Hint: Spielberg isn't the director of this one.
Not officially. Unofficially he definitely was.

There's a great book out detailing Spielberg's entire career:

Spielberg was contractually bound by Universal not to direct another movie before E.T. but he was on set almost every day. Tobe Hooper was removed from the project in post-production and the film was edited under the sole supervision of Steven.

It even resulted in a cat fight over the font size of each man's name in the film's trailer. Hooper sued and won - receiving financial compensation and...a bigger font size (I can't believe I just wrote that!). He also received a public apology from MGM and Spielberg - although the latter's was worded pretty poorly IMO.

You can tell, it has Spielberg written all over it.

The other unfortunate thing for Hooper was that his involvement basically **** canned his career. But a researcher analyzed the film shot by shot based on the style of each director and concluded that Hooper actually directed it. So...

At this rate I’m gonna have like 50 glaring omissions by you guys

I'd be very curious to know what these are. I'm comparing our list to many I've found on the internet and we are doing a very respectable job with maybe just a touch of recency bias for some movies. The one area we may be lacking in are movies pre-1970 or so, but dickey moe and his dad really helped us get coverage in that area.

I have 23 left in my top 50 that haven't been listed yet. I think maybe only one won't make it.
I have 11 left out of the bottom 25 and wouldn't be surprised if none make it, although I expect 2 will.

Sorry, I think you’re taking me far too seriously. I should have said that I have like 50 movies that you guys won’t cover

Another added to the que.
I liked and listed the remake, but I've never seen the original. Gotta fix that.
I've been casually following this thread and trying to remember film names to keep an eye out for. I saw "Suspiria" listed when I was browsing movies and recognized the name from here, but didn't realize it was not the same one.

The remake was really long. I snoozed through about 30 minutes and was still able to keep the plot. Very much enjoyed the last 90 minutes. Makes me want to see the original.

The parallel storyline involving the Japanese cracks me up every time. And when they break out REO Speedwagon.
