FBG Memorial - Honoring Forum Posters Who Have Passed (1 Viewer)

By_the_sea_wannabe was a great shark pool poster, often participated in survivor drafts, and a valued member of the Footballguys IBL team. Passed away four years ago and I can’t believe it has been that long.

Thankful for his contributions and friendship.
Colon cancer, battled it for quite awhile.

December of 2019 he was battling for the IBL championship in the final week which is no small feat. ARob dropped a passed in the last drive of Sunday Nite football with seconds left in the game that would have won him the title. He missed the excitement because staying up was difficult due to treatment. Was hoping he'd get a chance for redemption the following year but he passed during the draft. Went out doing what he loved.

  • 3rd & 8 at KC 36

(0:17 - 4th) (No Huddle, Shotgun) M.Trubisky pass incomplete deep left to A.Robinson.
  • 4th & 8 at KC 36

    (0:06 - 4th) (Shotgun) M.Trubisky pass incomplete short right to A.Robinson [A.Brown].

Thanks @BassNBrew - such a great detail to share.

First - Sorry to bump this after months. I'm not adding anyone new. Though it might be just as sad.

It might be too late now (as Joe likely has enough on his plate), but IMO it would be great to keep an updated list of fallen comrades (and family members) in the original post.

Thanks. If someone wants to be the appointed person to make and update a list, that would be great.

They can tag me in their post and whenever they do an update.
Don't think I can be the "appointed person", but I've taken a loving shot at the first pass for such a list. From posts in this thread and an earlier effort from @comfortably numb I gathered the below. I pray I didn't ignore anyone other than being indecisive in including @bueno - I ultimately chose to hope. I tried to find appropriate threads and include them when I could. The earlier thread had maybe a half dozen pruned links that I would have loved to include, but unfortunately, they now go nowhere (including one for an even earlier effort to construct this list). Finally, I have checked and re-checked and re-checked but I'm sure I messed up somewhere, please forgive me when you find that mistake that stings.

:frown:

In any case @Joe Bryant hopefully the below (or better yet a copy with a few more pieces of info filled in an/or any corrections or other improvements) can simply be cut and paste to the top of this thread.

Unfortunately, I believe someone who knows bueno confirmed it. Thanks for putting the list together.
I'll be away most of the rest of the day, but I'll sadly add "save the carrots for the deer"* later.

*This was a reply to a long-ago political post about the virtues of the carrot vs the stick in setting policy.

With bueno added :(

@Bogart unfortunately passed away very recently due to cardiac arrest. He was a wonderful human being who went out of his way to be a friend to those he had never met. He leaves behind two children, I think a freshman in college and a high school student, who he never stopped talking about and was immensley proud of. His son worked at an animal shelter and he constantly shared pictures of the dogs he got to walk. His daughter was a star in either gymnastics or cheer, I can't remember but he was always posting photos from her competitions in our group chat.

I bleieve the Mavs beat the Wolves tonight due to his influence from the beyond. The world is a far worse place without him.

Wow, damn, was an awesome dude. Glad he got to see the Rangers win one first.

So sad to hear this news. First thing I thought of was “Texas”. Enjoyed interacting with him regarding baseball and the wrestling thread (being from Texas, Bogart was a WCCW fan). Praying for peace for his family.

Yeah, this is awfully sad for so many reason. He was a doting father who beemed with pride when talking about his son and daughter. Following him on FB you can see a dad who put them 1st, 2nd, 3rd....they were his world.

He provided anybody that ever has or will have to go through the rigors and trauma of a divorce a blueprint for how co-exist with an ex-spouse and cooperate in full for the benefit of the children. A consummate gentleman who remained dear friends with his ex-wife to the end. That's incredibly rare and speaks volumes about Bogart's unselfishness.

A prince of a friend to many of us here. The last 3 seasons of Cake Leeg Fantasy Baseball, he PM'd me to cover the $130 entry fees of another owner who he felt could use a break and to do it quietly, not wanting to call attention to his altruism.

He didn't have the sort of childhood that was all rassleberry forgurt and scones, but he didn't let that burden him and he was a devoted son and stepson when a lesser man could have cut bait with them.

In short, our community and this planet are absent one of the kindest, most caring souls we've been fortunate to cross paths with. RIP Donald.

i’m still reeling. he was a genuinely great guy. feel like i need to listen to the Toadies and cry for the next week

Can't recall any direct interactions I had with him, but from what people are saying here it looks like we've lost a good one. May he RIP and his family (and friends, both "IRL" and here) find peace in his passing.

The one bad thing about this thread being pinned is I rarely notice new posts. Just reading this about Bogart. I'm in shock.

RIP Donald
I thought the same thing, I think we may still want to have a seperate thread when things like this happen in addition to this one being pinned.

Donald's Obituary
49 is way too young and that is heartbreaking for his kids they must be high school or just past it my heart goes out to them and it is a thing for me to read these and realize that so many of of the people that post here are guys that i sure would like to have had the chance to meet and have a laugh with and i bet i would have had a lot of laughs with a pet loving dad who supported his kids in their interests so well sounds like a hell of a guy and im sad he wont be around here any longer
