QB Aaron Rodgers, NYJ (2 Viewers)

“Aaron Rodgers had expressed to #Jets coaches that he doesn’t like the play-calls involving the cut-blocks because he can’t extend the play and it forces him to get rid of the ball quickly, sources tell me and (Dianna Russini),” The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt reported on Tuesday. “It failed twice on his four drop-backs — one resulted in a throwaway, on the other he got injured when Duane Brown’s cut failed to stop Leonard Floyd.”

Well this is….something I guess.

The NFL Players Association called for all 32 NFL teams to adopt grass fields.
The union’s statement comes after Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles Monday night on the turf at MetLife Stadium. Players for years have agitated for teams to ditch turf fields and install grass surfaces that are easier on players’ joints and ligaments. “Moving all stadium fields to high quality natural grass surfaces is the easiest decision the NFL can make,” NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell said in a statement. “The players overwhelmingly prefer it and the data is clear that grass is simply safer than artificial turf. It is an issue that has been near the top of the players’ list during my team visits and one I have raised with the NFL.” League officials continue to deny that there are major differences in injury rate on turf fields compared to grass surfaces.

Maybe they should have rules about being close to 40 & playing in the NFL. I hear that can be bad for ligaments & bones as well.

It is a legitimate issue that doesn't have anything to do with Rodgers' injury.

The data indisputably shows that fewer injuries occur playing on natural grass than playing on synthetic turf. If the NFL cared more about player health than money, it would mandate natural grass fields in every stadium. Obviously, the league prioritizes money over player health.

It is a complete joke that some NFL stadiums with synthetic turf temporarily replace that turf with natural grass to host soccer matches but then revert to synthetic turf for football season.
I'm not saying it's not a legit issue. I just thought it was a bit disingenuous of the NFLPA to use a 39 year old who got caught in an awkward sack as an example of why change was needed.

They're seemingly alleging that if it were natural grass, ARod would not have been hurt. Watching that replay, his foot stretched too far when a monstrous defender was sacking him. He would have popped that Achilles on any surface, IMO.

So yes - natural grass > turf of any sort

But I don't believe it has anything to do with ARod, and IMO it costs the NFLPA credibility when they come out with stuff like this.

It seems widely accepted that artificial turf causes more injuries and is harder on players' bodies as compared to grass surfaces, but the data I've been looking at since Monday night almost always limits the findings to "non-contact injuries." It's a problem that needs fixing for sure, but Rodgers' injury was indisputably a contact injury. From my twitter feed, it seems the strong consensus is that Rodgers' injury was likely caused by 1) the large man tackling him; 2) his age; 3) his existing calf strain - all before any consideration of artificial turf v natural grass. It's also interesting to me that artificial turf has been around since at least the 70s and during that time, over numerous CBA negotiations and even a few work stoppages, I don't recall the NFLPA ever making a big issue out of it in their demands.

Yep. Agreed.

And watching that play a few times in slow motion, there’s nothing that would change from a natural grass surface. If it happens on grass, 100/100 times he still tears his Achilles. A very large man landed on his leg in the exact wrong way.

They coulda been playing on a gigantic marshmallow field and it woulda been the same result.

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers says, “The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again” in Instagram post.

Rodgers stated his appreciation for “support and love” on his Instagram page after suffering an Achilles tear. His comments can be interpreted as a desire to return to the field after recovery in 2024. Rodgers is 39 years old and under contract for the Jets through 2025.

Im confident he is coming back for 2024. He knows there are 2 more years after this season of cheap Sauce and Wilson. I think he comes back for a 2 yr run.

Aaron Rodgers is a weird dude, but this dolphins thing is one of the weirdest things I’ve every heard. I seriously hope he’s trolling because I don’t want to live in a world where doctors start prescribing listening to dolphins make love as part of my recovery process.

Future headline: Rodgers returns in week 12 and the number 1 search on Google is dolphin porn

A Bills fan, commenting on a Jets player, who loves Dolphins. Very Patriotic.
Ah yes, the Chris Hogan Method.

Rodgers in his Pat McAfee show appearance today smuggly referred to Travis Kelce as Mr. Pfizer in a reference to Kelce's appearance in COVID vaccine commercials. Rodgers of course is anti-vaccine. Pfizer of course is owned by Johnson & Johnson. Maybe Aaron forgets who signs his checks.

It's all that micro dosing, Ketamine, and dolphins not from Miami having sex on this Spotify playlist.

Pfizer is not owned by J&J. It’s a competitor.

Mr. Ayahuasca says wut? No side effects with that. Reminds me of an anti vaxx high school buddy of mine who loudly and proudly lets everyone know how unsafe the Covid vax is then snorts an 8 ball over the weekend.

Even if he somehow would miraculously return, a 40 year old man, coming off an achilles tear and the Jets offensive line he doesn't survive the rest of the season

Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) said he’s not progressing as fast as he did earlier in his recovery.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday, Rodgers admitted it was a “tough week” of rehab and that there was some frustration on his part due to his rehab not progressing as quickly as it seemed to be earlier in the process. The quarterback also admitted that he doesn’t “quite have the strength in [his] calf” and is still walking with a limp. It was always a longshot for Rodgers to return this season, no matter how optimistic he was a few weeks ago. There’s still a lot of time to determine just how likely a return is, but Rodgers will need to make clear progress in the next few weeks for him to have any real chance of playing in regular season games.

Jets opened the 21-day practice window for Aaron Rodgers (Achilles).

About three months after tearing his Achilles tendon, Rodgers, who will be 40 in December, could return in late December, though he has hedged on his miracle return in recent interviews. Rodgers has not been cleared for contact and will be limited in practice over the coming weeks. The Jets would likely need to win their next two games for Rodgers to have any reason to return in Week 15 or Week 16. Until then, Tim Boyle will start for New York.

The Jets are currently the 15th ranked team in the AFC and lose pretty much every tiebreaker there is. They've scored an average of 10 points over their last 5 games. What would the point be for Rodgers to come back this year?

Conventional (twitter) wisdom seems to be this is entirely driven by Rodgers himself, not by the team, its coaches or management (or its doctors.) He's an interesting dude. Already proven himself one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play football, in extremely rarified air in terms of career accomplishments and earnings, but he holds a grudge like no other man alive. He seemingly wants to prove to the world, or at least to his online social media critics, that his understanding of health and medicine is superior to the prevailing scientific convention.

To save a bunch of jobs.
Rodgers comes back and wins 4 straight, maybe everyone doesn't have to pull their kids out of school

And if Rodgers wants to play, coaches and management ain't gonna do a thing about it.
You want Hackett as your OC Aaron? Done
What's that Aaron? Randall Cobb? No problem
Lazard? Sure
Cook? You got him Aaron
Tim Boyle? Sure, what could that possibly hurt?

I don’t think ARod is trying to prove anything by coming back. If he’s ready, he’s ready. Evidently, the procedure is revolutionary & done by one of the most skilled surgeons in the world. We’re in an age of medical advancements, after all.

ARod is an interesting cat. I don’t think too many people cared about his opinions until COVID, then he got bashed by all the armchair doctors who wouldn’t know vaccine science if it slapped them in the face. We all have a choice as to what things we believe & he’s no different.

Gotta love ARod & his DGAF attitude. The trolling he does to his detractors is top-notch, as well. I find it refreshing.

Oh...I think he very much wants to "stick it to" detractros.
As for his trolling...its entertaining a bit...but plenty of it hypocritical given who is paying his checks no?

I also strongly disagree with the suggestion that Rodgers has a “DGAF attitude” - it’s the exact opposite to an extreme. His entire persona is driven by his obsessive focus on what others think and say about him. He’s still motivated by that extended time in the green room on draft night 20 years ago despite proving himself a million time over since then.

Everybody is motivated by a draft snub.

He’s the king of DGAF, sending the middle finger every chance he gets. This all started when people reacted to his opinions, not the other way around.

Most interesting guy in the NFL…

If someone is "sending the middle finger every chance he gets", it's because they really give a ****.

Also funny that you referred to "all the armchair doctors who wouldn’t know vaccine science if it slapped them in the face"...that is 100% a description of Aaron Rodgers.

I’m amazed at all the people who care about what ARod thinks & does now. 😂

It’s simply because his opinions & values don’t line up with theirs. This type of human behavior has been going on since the dawn of time.

ARod doesn’t have to try to ruffle people’s feathers. People do it to themselves, LOL. He’s just one of those DGAF guys that has life by the balls.

I particularly appreciate the skillful trolling. A master at his craft.

Nah. ARod wouldn't have the number of detractors he does if that were true. His opinions & actions bug people for some reason.

This all started a couple of years ago. He could either ignore the bashing or have some fun with it. Given his personality, he chose the latter option.

Good stuff, LOL.

You know that guy that always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room? That's Aaron Rodgers.

He could be in a room of rocket scientists and he'd think he's smarter. He could be in a room of neurosurgeons and he'd think he's smarter.. He could be in a room of vaccine experts and he'd think he's smarter. He could be in a room with the best GMs in the game and he'd think he's smarter. Not only does he think it, but he has to make sure others know it.

BTW, he’s pretty damn smart. I’m sure ARod could’ve been a rocket scientist if he’d have really wanted to (non-negotiable).
